Indonesia: Establishment of National Lake Network

With funding from USAID, LakeNet is working with local partners to support the establishment of a national lake network in Indonesia.

The first meeting on the Indonesian Lakes Forum (Forum Danau Indonesia) was held in June 2003. The participants agreed to establish the Forum and a work group was appointed to form an executive committee, finalize an Indonesia Lake Vision and to develop a plan of action for the Forum.

LakeNet supported the translation of the World Lake Vision into Bahasa Indonesia and participated on the Working Group to establish the Forum.

The second meeting of the Indonesia Lakes Forum will be held 8-10 December 2004 in Jakarta. An Indonesian version of the World Lake Vision will be presented and an Indonesia-specific lake vision will be discussed among other topics related to the establishment of the Forum as an ongoing national network.
